If you\u2019re short on time but really want to become a diver, the PADI Scuba Diver rating might be right for you \u0336 particularly if you expect to go scuba diving primarily with a dive guide. This course is an intermediate step for earning an Open Water Diver certification, if that\u2019s your ultimate goal.<br \/>\nPADI Scuba Divers are qualified to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dive under the direct supervision of a PADI Professional to a maximum depth of 12 metres\/40 feet.<\/li>\n<li>Obtain air fills, rent or purchase scuba equipment and participate in dive activities as long as properly supervised.<\/li>\n<li>Continue dive training by completing the PADI Open Water Diver certification and taking certain specialty diver courses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To enroll in a PADI Scuba Diver course (or Junior Scuba Diver course), you must be 10 years old or older. You need adequate swimming skills and need to be in good physical health. No prior experience with scuba diving is required, but you can try it first through the\u00a0<a title=\"Learn more about PADI's Discover Scuba Diving program\" href=\"https:\/\/thediveshack.com.au\/cn\/dive-courses\/discover-scuba-diving\/\">Discover Scuba<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>Diving<\/a>\u00a0program.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"notecard \">\n<h3 class=\"notecard__label\">Academic<\/h3>\n<div class=\"notecard__body\">\n<p>The PADI Scuba Diver course consists of three main phases:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Knowledge Development (eLearning, independent study or in a classroom) to understand basic principles of scuba diving \u2013 just the first three of five sections of the Open Water Diver course.<\/li>\n<li>Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills \u2013 just the first three of five dives of the Open Water Diver course<\/li>\n<li>Open Water Dives to use your skills and explore \u2013 just two of four dives of the Open Water Diver course.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"notecard \">\n<h3 class=\"notecard__label\">Equipment<\/h3>\n<div class=\"notecard__body\">\n<p>You learn to use\u00a0basic scuba gear, including a mask, snorkel, fins, regulator, buoyancy control device and a tank. The equipment you wear varies, depending upon whether you\u2019re diving in tropical, temperate or cold water. Your PADI Instructor will explain the equipment you need and may suggest additional educational materials, such as the required logbook.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"notecard \">\n<h3 class=\"notecard__label\">Getting Started<\/h3>\n<div class=\"notecard__body\">\n<p>Get started by registering for\u00a0Open Water Diver eLearning\u00a0(a\u00a0mobile app).
