Southern Dumpling Squid
During their short lives of approximately 6 months, these small creatures can grow up to a length of about 8 cm. These animals are highly developed and are capable of catching prey up to twice their size. They are usually found in seagrass beds around South Australia’s jetties and can often be easily spotted at night, as they tend to hide in sand or mud during the day. If provoked it can rapidly change color as an additional decoy to ink squirting.
